Job summary

UHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group is seeking an Inventory Accounting / Reconciliation Consultant for a hybrid project-based engagement in the greater Atlanta area. The consultant will support a high-volume inventory accounting environment with emphasis on reconciliations, data accuracy, and improved workflows.

The role involves consolidating data from multiple systems, strengthening controls, and documenting processes while collaborating with accounting stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands-on experience performing complex, high-volume account reconciliations, preferably involving inventory.
• Strong inventory accounting experience, including knowledge of inventory transactions and related financial data.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including manipulating, analyzing, and cleaning large datasets from multiple source systems.
• Experience with major ERP/accounting systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable platforms; JD Edwards experience strongly preferred and SAP experience a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience with significant direct execution responsibility.
• Ability to assess unfamiliar processes, establish priorities quickly, and produce results with limited ramp-up.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with accounting leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Prior consulting, interim, project-based, or advisory experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement, adapt to shifting requirements, and document sustainable process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inventory and related account reconciliations, identify variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform high-volume account and inventory reconciliations and analyze related inventory transactions.
• Gather, consolidate, manipulate, and cleanse accounting data from multiple systems using advanced Excel.
• Investigate mismatches and data-quality issues across inventory and general ledger information.
• Improve manual reconciliation workflows, supporting schedules, and repeatable data processes.
• Support enhancements to inventory accounting policies, documentation, and related controls.
• Help improve data quality and reconciliation processes to support future accounting systems and process changes.
• Work independently with accounting stakeholders to prioritize and complete critical reconciliation work.
