Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is offering a summer 2027 co-op based at our Cincinnati, OH headquarters. The program rotates through Corporate Accounting, Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Treasury Operations for a full semester in up to five departments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schedules to support the monthly consolidated financial statements.
• Prepare monthly tax provisions and book general ledger entries.
• Assist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly earnings packages.
• Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
• Prepare monthly closing package and supporting schedules for multiple subsidiaries.
• Record investment income and carrying values into the subsidiaries’ general ledgers.
• Analyze investment results and investigate variances.
• Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
• Assist in the preparation of SEC forms 10-K, 10-Q and 13-F with supporting docs.
• Prepare financial statements and schedules for CLOs included in consolidated statements.
• Proofread and perform clerical duties related to SEC forms 10-K/10-Q.
• Prepare/review internal management reports using Excel and SEC systems.
• Support bank reconciliations and account maintenance.
• Help maintain supplier payment methods and invoice reviews.
• Data validation and cleanup in Excel or ERP systems.
• Participate in treasury transformation or system upgrades.

Great American Financial Division co-ops quickly become an integral part of our team. Our rotational program allows students to experience several departments in our organization by working in a new area each semester. This position consists of a full semester in up to five different departments such as Corporate Accounting, Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Treasury Operations. The co-op is full-time beginning in Summer 2027 and is based in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters.

Corporate Accounting Department

• Prepare schedules to support the monthly consolidated financial statements.

• Prepare monthly tax provisions and book general ledger entries.

• Assist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly earnings packages.

• Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.

Investment Accounting Department

• Prepare monthly closing package and supporting schedules, including cash and inventory reconciliations, for multiple subsidiaries.

• Record investment income and carrying values into the subsidiaries’ general ledgers.

• Analysis of investment results and investigation of variances.

• Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.

Financial Reporting Department

• Assist in the preparation of AFG’s SEC forms 10-K, 10-Q and 13-F, including preparation of supporting documentation.

• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the AFG managed collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) that are required to be included in AFG’s consolidated financial statements.

• Proofread and perform other clerical duties related to the preparation of AFG’s SEC forms 10-K and/or 10-Q.

• Prepare and/or review various internal management reports using Excel, the Company’s general ledger system, and SEC reporting system.

Treasury Operations Department

• Support bank account reconciliations and transaction monitoring.

• Assist with bank account maintenance, including updating authorized signers and bank services.

• Help maintain and update supplier payment methods.

• Support the creation and review of supplier invoices for accuracy and coding.

• Help with data validation and cleanup in Excel or ERP systems.

• Participate in treasury transformation or system upgrade projects.
