Job summary

Delaware State Lottery is seeking an entry-level accounting professional to support the accounting office. You will pay lottery winners and perform basic accounting tasks, including recording, reviewing, and processing financial transactions and records, under supervision.

You may also perform payroll entries and various administrative tasks while delivering strong customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6 months' experience in processing accounting, auditing or payroll transactions.
• 6 months' experience in determining compliance of financial transactions with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, rules or regulations.
• 6 months’ experience in preparing financial reports such as combining and presenting financial data from multiple sources in an organized format.
• OR Possession of an Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.

Responsibilities

• Review forms and source documents to complete purchase orders; confirm accuracy, completeness, approvals per procedures.
• Verifies or determines correct classification and coding of transactions.
• Enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report on data in accounting systems.
• Use standard formulas to perform and verify calculations; monitor balances and report discrepancies.
• Create and maintain financial records, documents and files.
• Prepare reports and summaries on the status of accounts or financial data.
• Gather data for higher-level staff.
• May perform payroll entries and process payroll in automated systems.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers and the public.
• Communicate across cultures and diverse groups.
