This position is located at Lincoln Correctional Center in Lincolnton, NC (Lincoln County). Lincoln Correctional Center is a Minimum Custody Facility that houses Male Offenders.
Job Description: This is para-professional level accounting work in an agency or institution. Responsibilities include verifying, coding, balancing, maintaining, and reporting on manual and automated records related to fiscal or business data. Work typically involves maintaining single entry journals or records.
Training will be provided on Trust Fund Operations using the IBS Inmate Banking System, inmate welfare accounting, E-Procurement, CNTR005 direct processing forms, and monthly canteen accounting, in accordance with the Department of Adult Corrections.
The role requires contact with regional, division, and departmental staff, inmate relatives, vendors, transportation companies, and others. Effective communication skills are essential. The candidate must operate a personal computer, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and other communication equipment accurately. Additional accounting duties may be assigned.
Assist with the Beacon/FIORI payroll system may also be required.
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with State benefits. Applicants must pass a background check.
The salary grade is NC02, with a range of $31,200.00 - $49,340.00. State employees are encouraged to apply, and salary will be recalculated based on education, experience, funding, and internal equity, possibly resulting in a pay increase.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices is required.
