Job summary

Emerson Electric Co in Houston, TX seeks an Accounting Business Partner to provide accounting and financial support to business divisions, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and strong controls. You will partner with cross-functional teams to drive performance improvements and assist with financial decision-making.

Your role includes month-end and year-end close, statutory filings, and coaching junior staff, while upholding CP&P standards and internal controls across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience in financial reporting and business partnering.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Partner monthly close and journal entry review with NA Senior Finance Leader & GFS Controller.
• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual general accounting processes.
• Guide CP&Ps and answer accounting questions with department leaders.
• Partner with other functions to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies; coordinate with Compliance Director on ICQ reviews.
• Support statutory/regulatory filings with internal and external auditors and Tax as required.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closing processes and timely financial statements.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies.
• Lead the preparation of financial statements and assist with management reports.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional projects for financial systems and reporting improvements.
• Provide training to non-finance staff on CP&Ps and standard methodologies.
• Coach junior accounting staff.

Based in our Houston, TX location, the Accounting Business Partner is responsible for providing accounting & financial support to business divisions by demonstrating their accounting expertise to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and controls. This role partners closely with various departments to drive financial performance, enhance business processes, and support decision-making with accurate and timely financial information! This includes partnering with other functional areas.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Partnering with NA Senior Finance Leader & Global Financial Services (GFS) Controller on monthly close and Journal Entry review
• Performing specific monthly, quarterly and annual general accounting processes, not centralize in GFS
• Collaborating with business and department leaders to provide guidance on Corporate Policies & Procedures (CP&Ps) and answer accounting questions
• Partnering with other functions to ensure accuracy of financial statements
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies and partner with Compliance Director on specific projects and quarterly ICQ reviews.
• Supporting the preparation of statutory and regulatory filings, coordinating with internal and external auditors and Tax as required
• Supporting the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
• Reviewing Balance Sheet Reconciliations to ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly
• Leading the preparation of financial statements and assist with management reports
• Finding opportunities to streamline business unit accounting processes and improve efficiency
• Leading or participating in cross-functional projects to enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and procedures
• Providing training and guidance to non-finance staff on financial processes, CP&Ps and standard methodologies
• Acting as a coach to junior accounting staff, supporting their development and growth

For This Role, You Will Need:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and business partnering
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience in manufacturing, and corporate or large business environment is preferred
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification is preferred
• Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and accounting software (e.g., ERP systems, Excel)
• Proactive and adaptable with a continuous improvement attitude
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
