Responsibilities

  • Verifies journal entries and other accounting data.
  • Compiles and verifies monthly data for payroll, accounts receivable, cash, and financial statements.
  • Reconciles cash and banking transactions.
  • Makes journal entries for corrections and reclassifications.
  • Reconciles assigned accounts with the general ledger.
  • Maintains records and documentation for accounting workgroup.
  • Assists in data entry as workload dictates.
  • Processes payments for kiosk, bank drafts, and bank wires.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing monetary wires.
  • Manages daily returned checks and distributes reports to customer service.
  • Creates wires and ACH payments, uploads positive pay/voids to the bank.
  • Records and pays utility bank drafts.
  • Researches data from Rec4 and Dep4 for daily balancing.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.

Position Summary

Performs a wide variety of duties related to all areas of general accounting with an emphasis on account reconciliation and problem solving.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with two years of relevant experience; however, an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered. Must possess a high level of competency in personal computers, as well as a demonstrated understanding of accounting processes.

(Depending on the candidate’s level of experience, this position may be filled as an Accounting Associate II or Accounting Associate III.)

Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Physical Demands

The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to orally communicate by phone and person to person. The ability to see/read money and/or other printed material.

Telephone

Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.

Essential Functions
  • Verifies journal entries and other accounting data.
  • Compiles and verifies monthly data associated with various accounting information (i.e. - payroll, transportation, cash, accounts receivable, financial statements, deferred payment programs, etc.).
  • Reconciles cash and banking transactions.
  • Makes journal entries for corrections, reclassifications, etc.
  • Reconciles assigned accounts and sub-ledger accounts with the general ledger.
  • Maintains proper records and documentation for applicable areas within the accounting workgroup.
  • Assists employees within the department with various accounting functions.
  • Assists in data entry as department workload dictates.
  • Processes payments associated with the kiosk, bank drafts, and bank wires.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing monetary wires.
  • Handles the daily returned checks and distributes reports to customer service.
