Job summary

Indeed Brewing Company is seeking a part-time Accounting Associate to oversee detailed financial documentation across both taprooms in Minneapolis and Milwaukee. You will provide actionable insights to leadership under the Director of Business Services, ensuring seamless financial operations across sites.

Responsibilities include bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, AP/AR, payroll support, and tax filings, with emphasis on accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years bookkeeping experience; food/beverage, hospitality, or manufacturing a strong plus.
• Proficiency in Encompass Online (or similar) and POS reconciliation.
• Familiarity with multi-location or class-based accounting.
• Understanding of (or willingness to learn) TTB and state alcohol excise tax requirements.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• High attention to detail and comfort with deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and communicate proactively with ownership.

We are seeking a part-time Accounting Associate to oversee detailed financial documentation across both taprooms and brewery locations while delivering actionable insights to executive leadership.

Operating under the direction of the Director of Business Services, this position ensures seamless financial operations across our sites.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Core Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate books in Encompass Online (or equivalent) across both locations, using classes/locations to separate P&L by site
• Record and categorize all revenue, COGS, and operating expenses
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and merchant processor accounts monthly
• Manage accounts payable: enter and pay vendor bills, track terms with distributors and suppliers
• Manage accounts receivable: invoice wholesale/distribution accounts, track collections
• Process or support payroll (including tipped/hospitality staff wage compliance)

Brewery-Specific

• Reconcile daily POS (Square/Toast/etc.) sales across both taprooms, including tips, comps, and discounts
• Track keg deposits, keg inventory, and returns
• Support inventory costing for raw materials (grain, hops, yeast, packaging) and finished goods
• Prepare data for and/or file TTB excise tax reports and state alcohol excise/sales tax filings
• Track distributor/wholesale pricing, depletions, and commissions if applicable
• Monitor cash handling and till reconciliation procedures at both taprooms

Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) by location and consolidated
• Track sales tax liability and ensure timely filing across applicable jurisdictions
• Assist with 1099 vendor tracking and year-end tax prep coordination with the Controller.
• Maintain organized digital records for audit-readiness

Outcomes of the Role

• Maintain up-to-date tracking of sales, deposits, payables, and receivables while swiftly identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Reconcile monthly account balances alongside brewery partner activities to ensure seamless support for period-end closing and financial reporting
• Prepare and submit all required tax returns, regulatory filings, and compliance reports in full accordance with established deadlines
