Job summary

First Western Equipment Finance is hiring an Accounting Assistant for our Minot Main Bank location. The role supports the accounting function to ensure efficient financial records, reports, and accurate statements.

Responsibilities include accounts payable processing, balance sheet reconciliations, payments processing, journal entries, and tax returns. We offer comprehensive health benefits, a 401k with company match, HSA contributions, banking benefits, and various leave provisions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two years’ experience in accounting, banking, or finance field.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, analysis, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable processing, including scanning and indexing records.
• Prepare reports as needed.
• Assist with quarterly payment and reconciliations.
• Complete FHLB borrowing base certificates for pledging.
• Balance General Ledger accounts.
• Process online, EFT, mailed and phone payments.
• Process and maintain EFT bank information in the system.
• Process credit memos and generate monthly invoices.
• Process monthly/quarterly sales tax returns.
• Post various adjusting journal entries.
• Perform daily reconciliation of the Bank’s general ledger accounts.

Education

Associate’s degree or two years’ experience in accounting, banking, or finance field

Accounting Assistant Position Overview

Assist First Western Bank & First Western Equipment Finance accounting function to ensure efficient financial records management, reports and accurate financial statements.

• Accounts payable processing, including scanning and indexing records
• Prepare reports as needed
• Assist with quarterly payment and reconciliations
• Complete FHLB (Federal Home Loan Bank) borrowing base certificates for pledging
• Balance General Ledger accounts
• Process online payments, EFT payments, mailed payments and phone payments
• Maintain Unapplied Cash and process Return Items in the system for FWEF
• Process and maintain EFT bank information in the system
• Process early buyouts and terminate contracts in the system
• Process credit memos in the FWEF system
• Generate and mail monthly invoices according to due dates and assess late fees
• Process monthly/quarterly sales tax returns
• Process and update lease renewals
• Scan, index, and review reports
• Post various adjusting journal entries
• Perform various reconciliations
• Process and reconcile prepaids
• Manage and update query activity
• Perform daily reconciliation of the Bank’s general ledger accounts
• Perform daily cash management
• Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations and the Bank’s policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act
• Maintain continuing education related to regulatory standards

Accounting Assistant Qualifications

• A minimum of an Associate’s degree or two years’ experience in accounting, banking, or finance field
• Knowledge of accounting principles, analysis, and financial statement preparation
