Job summary

Cumulus Digital Systems, Inc. seeks a hands-on finance professional to own key accounting processes, lead the monthly close with support from a bookkeeper, manage customer invoicing and revenue recognition, and prepare financial statements.

You will collaborate with the Director of Finance on reporting, analysis, and scalable processes as the company grows, turning data into actionable business insights within a SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of overall accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years at a SaaS company, with a solid understanding of recurring revenue and subscription metrics.
• Experience leading a monthly close and preparing accurate financial statements with support from a bookkeeper.
• Experience working with external accountants through a financial statement audit.
• Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 (preferred).
• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close, including reconciliations, journal entries, review of the bookkeeper's work, and preparation of financial statements.
• Prepare and maintain revenue recognition calculations for software subscriptions and other customer contracts, including deferred revenue schedules.
• Take ownership of customer invoicing, from reviewing contract terms and billing schedules through invoice issuance and resolution of billing questions.
• Coordinate audit preparation and work directly with external accountants and auditors to provide schedules, support, and responses to inquiries.
• Assist with budget preparation and working with department heads on expense planning.
• Analyze financial trends and SaaS metrics, including ARR, MRR, retention, churn, and bookings, and help explain results to management.
• Support the Director of Finance with monthly reporting, process improvements, and other finance priorities.

Role Overview

You are a proactive, detail-oriented finance leader who enjoys building structure in fast-paced environments. You have a strong grasp of accounting fundamentals but are also comfortable operating strategically and translating numbers into actionable insights. You're hands-on, collaborative, and able to grow with the company as it scales.

Professional Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA or CPA-eligible (preferred)
• 4+ years of overall accounting or finance experience, with at least 2 years at a SaaS company, with a solid understanding of recurring revenue and subscription metrics.
• Experience working with external accountants through a financial statement audit.
• Experience leading a monthly close and preparing accurate financial statements with support from a bookkeeper.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage several priorities and build/improve finance processes in a growing company.
• Experience using QuickBooks Online and subscription billing systems (preferred).
• Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 (preferred).
