RSM is looking for a Senior Associate to join our Accounting and Finance Consulting (AFC) practice with a focus on general accounting. Changing economies, new accounting policies and evolving tax regulations mean that business and professional services firms face an ever-changing business landscape. Responsibilities:

• Support the AFC team on various accounting projects.
• Participate in the full accounting cycle, including preparing journal entries (revenue, accruals), data validation, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts such as intercompany accounts, fixed assets, and inventory.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports to offer insights into the company's financial performance.
• Execute the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and data validation for timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and understand different account types.
• Understand and apply debits and credits, and post journal entries accurately to maintain the general ledger.
• Review financial statements to ensure accuracy and provide insights.
• Prepare fixed asset schedules and perform monthly reconciliations.
• Handle payroll accounting and related reconciliations to ensure accurate payroll processing.
• Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with regulations and internal controls.
• Demonstrate advanced Excel skills for financial data analysis and reporting.
• Provide training and support to junior staff to ensure proper application of accounting principles.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% based on client needs.

Required Qualifications:

• BS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in full cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or equivalent certification.
• Expertise in technical accounting and advanced accounting software skills.

Selected candidates are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance.
