Job summary

Ohalo is seeking an Accounting Analyst to help build our accounting and finance infrastructure from the ground up. This remote role reports to the Controller and focuses on AP, cash reconciliation, and core GL activity with a hands-on, analytical approach.

Responsibilities

• Process, code, and review vendor invoices and expense reports; manage AP workflow using Ramp/Zip and NetSuite.
• Own vendor and payment reconciliations and analyze discrepancies and aged items.
• Prepare and post monthly accounting journal entries (accruals, prepaids, reclasses).
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
• Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end close and flux analysis.
• Identify opportunities to automate AP and reconciliation using AI/workflow tools.
• Collaborate with procurement and vendors to resolve invoice issues and maintain audit-ready docs.
• Administer T&E program including card issuance, policy enforcement, and audits.

The Opportunity:

This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to help build Ohalo's accounting and finance infrastructure and business processes from the ground up, and to be at the forefront of building a best-in-class finance organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Analyzer will own day-to-day accounts payable, cash reconciliations, and core general ledger activity — bringing an analytical, process-minded approach to work that is hands-on by nature, with real influence over how those processes are built and improved as Ohalo scales. We're looking for someone who diagnoses the root cause upstream rather than treating symptoms and applying band-aids on the back end.

Responsibilities:

• Process, code, and review vendor invoices and employee expense reports, and manage the AP workflow end-to-end using Ramp/Zip and NetSuite
• Own vendor and payment reconciliations, analyzing root cause on discrepancies, and aged items rather than just correcting the transaction
• Prepare and post monthly corporate accounting journal entries (accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and other standard entries)
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash and other assigned accounts, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items
• Reconcile bank and cash accounts on a recurring basis and monitor for unusual activity
• Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end close, including flux analysis and supporting schedules
• Identify and help implement opportunities to automate manual, repetitive AP and reconciliation work using AI tools and workflow automation
• Partner with procurement, budget owners, and vendors to resolve invoice and payment issues, and maintain audit-ready documentation
• Administer Ohalo's travel & expense (T&E) program — card issuance, policy enforcement, and receipt compliance — and perform periodic transaction audits. Leverage AI-tools within Ramp to pre-audit expenses back to policy.

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounting or accounts payable experience
• Solid understanding of debits/credits and general accounting principles (GAAP)
• Self-starter who takes ownership and reasons from first principles rather than defaulting to "how it's always been done"
• Strong intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills — comfortable digging into root cause rather than just closing out a task

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of NetSuite, Ramp and Zip (or a similar procurement/AP automation platform)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Prior experience at a high-growth or fast-paced company
• Comfortable using AI tools to speed up and improve repetitive accounting work

This role is available to individuals working in the Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time Zones. Compensation will depend on the working location of the individual hired. However, the anticipated base pay range for this role is $65,000-80,000 per year for our South San Francisco location. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
