Job summary

The California State Controller's Office is seeking a Section Manager (Accounting Administrator II) in Sacramento County. The role leads professional staff, oversees policy and program areas, and ensures compliance with state procedures in the Local Government Programs & Services Division.

The position is permanent, full-time, with hybrid telework and a standard 8:00am–5:00pm shift, Monday through Friday. New hires start at the minimum of the classification or alternate range as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversee professional staff through two Accounting Administrator I – Supervisors who oversee Local Government Policy Unit and County Cost Plans Unit.
• Set division goals and strategic plans with bureau chief and ensure alignment with statewide objectives.
• Advise on program status and updates as a key policy advisor for local government programs.
• Manage change, plan strategically, and make decisions through analysis and research to support the division.
• Represent the State Controller at work group meetings with local government officials using diplomacy and effective communication.
• Oversee the unit that conducts county cost allocation reviews for 58 California counties and supports annual conferences.
