University of Utah is seeking an Accountant II to plan, conduct, and participate in cost analysis and cost accounting for the University’s real estate portfolio. You will analyze variance, audit costs, and liaise with other departments to ensure compliance with established cost accounting standards.

The department may hire at multiple levels with corresponding pay rates; the role includes a full-time schedule with potential telework one day per week and campus-based work.

• Accountants (Cost), II requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of related work experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform staff accountant duties related to the University's real estate portfolio.
• Maintain records of building repairs and tenant files, respond to vendor inquiries about invoices and payments.
• Maintain fiscal records and support audits and internal control reviews.
• Manage GFA access, chartfields, activity lifecycle reporting, endowment transfers, wire transfers.
• Prepare and assess budgets, revenue, expenses, payroll and journal entries, and process invoices and reimbursements.

Job Summary

Accountants (Cost) Plan, conduct, and participate in analysis of cost assignments,ensuring that all assigned projects adhere to accepted costaccounting standards. Recommend changes in cost accounting methods,procedures, and systems. Conduct cost audits and variance analysis,and act as liaison with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform general staff accountant duties related to the University's real estate portfolio.
• Keep records of building repairs, tenant files, respond to avariety of accounting-related questions such as inquiries fromvendors about invoice status, answer questions on payment orpurchasing documents, travel, and Pcard transactions.
• Maintain fiscal records for each fiscal year and support auditsand internal control reviews.
• Manage GFA access, chartfields, and activity lifecyclereporting, opening/closing, endowment transfers, wiretransfers.
• Prepares and assesses budget, revenue, expense, payroll andjournal entries, and produce other accounting documents to processinvoices and reimbursements for payment.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:

Accountants (Cost), II: Requires a bachelor's (orequivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years ofdirectly related work experience.

Preferences

Bachelors Degree in business, accounting or finance, one year fulltime paid accounting work with similar responsibilities.
