Gibel & Associates Inc. seeks an Accountant – Senior Associate to join its Finance & Tax Department in New York.

The role targets 3–7 years of related accounting experience and offers exposure to US GAAP and IFRS, financial reporting, budgeting, and controls within a banking environment. You'll work across Management, Treasury, and Corporate Departments, contribute to regulatory reporting, analytics, and system enhancements, and support tax-related activities.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of related accounting experience.
• Experience gained in a bank, a public accounting firm that audits banks, or a similar financial institution.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related discipline preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with financial reporting, financial analysis, and financial controls.
• Understanding of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.
• Understanding of bonds, derivatives, and money market instruments preferred.
• Familiarity with asset-backed securities (ABS) and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) is a plus.
• Regulatory reporting experience is preferred, but not required.
• Motivated individual with the ability and willingness to work in a collaborative, multifunctional environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Bank's financial statements under U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.
• Prepare financial reports and analyses for Management, Head Office, Treasury, and Corporate Departments.
• Prepare analytical and cost accounting reports.
• Perform financial and internal control activities.
• Participate in the preparation of budgets.
• Participate in the development, enhancement, and testing of the Bank's systems and automated tools.
• Prepare regulatory reports, as required.
• Assist with tax-related activities, including compiling, analyzing, and preparing supporting documentation.
