The Department of Human Resource Management’s Finance and Administration office is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Senior Accountant. In this role, the position is responsible for providing analytical and accounting support to the Fiscal Officer, CFO, and designated divisions of DHRM. The duties of this position include monthly reconciliation of all agency 129 funds of the state Cardinal accounting system to agency records; maintaining the agency accounts receivable and payables systems and reports to management, monthly reconciliation of the Worker’s Compensation Program fund accounts; receiving, reviewing and processing agency travel vouchers and other invoices and vouchers as received; preparing and filing IRS 1099 miscellaneous income reporting; assisting with and providing info and documents related to year end CAFR and audits; providing backup for the Health Benefits Senior Accountant, Financial Analyst, and the Fiscal Officer as needed.
Comprehensive knowledge of the state accounting system Cardinal; Considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices; Considerable experience and the ability to complete financial reconciliations; Demonstrated ability to conduct financial analysis; Working knowledge of contracts for benefit plans; Demonstrated ability to analyze and audit data; Experience in handling cash transactions to multiple funds, reconciliation of funds accounts, analytical skills and auditing skills, electronic transfer of data; Strong personal computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, accounting software; Demonstrated ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to respond to inquiries in a timely manner and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. High School Graduate or equivalent.
Coursework in Accounting, Business or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) is a plus.
