Job summary

COUNTRY Financial is seeking candidates for its Controllers Rotational Program in Bloomington, IL. The two-year fellowship exposes you to accounting and finance disciplines, building expertise in financial reporting, operations, internal controls, and insurance finance.

You will work with experienced professionals on meaningful business initiatives and present updates to management. Typical entry requirements include 2+ years of related experience or a combination of education and training.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant accounting experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with month-end close processes and financial analysis.
• Ability to contribute to internal controls and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support general accounting activities including ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close, journal entries, variance analysis, and reporting.
• Contribute to system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
• Prepare presentations and updates for management.

This role can expect to perform general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements in compliance with defined controls, standards, and regulations. You can also expect to compile and analyze financial information, and contribute to meaningful process improvements.

How does this role make an impact?

Actual work may vary based on business need to include any/all of the following:

• Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles financial transactions, account balances, and supporting schedules in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Completes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
• Analyzes financial data and accounting records to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
• Identifies, implements, and maintains effective internal controls and supports compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Contributes to special projects, system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and other departmental priorities.
• Prepares and delivers presentations and project updates to management and stakeholders.
• Maintains confidentiality of financial information and exercises sound professional judgment in performing assigned responsibilities.

Base Pay Range

$54,800-$75,350

The base pay range represents the typical range of potential salary offers for candidates hired. Factors used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, qualifications and experience.

Incentive Pay

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a Short-Term Incentive plan.
