Job summary

Mechanical Sales, Inc. is seeking an accountant to join our growing team in Omaha. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly statements, and supporting ERP implementation with NetSuite.

You will drive reconciliations and assist in month-end close, collaborating across departments to ensure data integrity. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting and 1–2 years of accounting experience, with strong GAAP knowledge and Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience, required.
• Experience with ERP systems or accounting software, preferred.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software.
• Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and be able to work outside of normal office hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Research and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Maintain supporting documentation for assigned general ledger accounts.
• Identify and recommend improvements to reconciliation processes.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Assist with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related questions.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Analyze financial results and investigate account variances.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Assist with data validation and reconciliation during ERP implementation.
• Participate in testing and process documentation.
• Support accounting process improvements related to the new ERP system.
