Job summary

The Landline Company is seeking an Accountant / Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. You will own accounts payable, support month-end close, assist with reconciliations, payroll, and audits.

This role reports to the Controller and offers growth in a fast-moving, innovative company. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, 2+ years (Accountant) or 4+ years (Senior Accountant) of relevant experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and Excel and ERP experience (NetSuite, QuickBooks,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 2+ years accounting for Accountant level, or 4+ years for Senior Accountant.
• Hands-on AP, month-end close, and reconciliations experience.
• Experience with payroll functions.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and accounting fundamentals.
• Strong Excel skills and ERP experience (NetSuite/QuickBooks/Sage).
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus; transportation/aviation exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounts payable cycle including invoice review, coding, approvals, payment runs, and vendor inquiries.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and schedules for month-end close.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support payroll by recording payroll entries and addressing payroll questions.
• Maintain vendor records, W-9 collection, and 1099 reporting.
• Assist audits, tax filings, and ad hoc analysis.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes and controls.

The Role

We are looking for an Accountant / Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and help keep our books accurate, timely, and audit ready as we grow. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll own accounts payable, play a key role in month-end close and reconciliations, and support our treasury and payroll processes. The level of the role will depend on experience. It’s a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys building efficient processes, and wants to grow with a fast-moving company.

The Role Will

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice review and coding, approvals, payment runs, and vendor inquiries
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules as part of the month-end close, consistently meeting close deadlines
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (Credit card, AP, prepaid, intercompany and more) and research and resolve variances
• Support payroll by reviewing and recording payroll journal entries, reconciling payroll accounts, and partnering with People Operations on payroll questions
• Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9 collection and year-end 1099 reporting
• Support vendor management, vendor onboarding, and spend tracking
• Assist the Controller with audits, tax filings, and ad hoc analysis
• Identify opportunities to improve, document, and automate accounting processes and internal controls

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience for the Accountant level, or 4+ years for the Senior Accountant level
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, month-end close, and account reconciliations
• Experience payroll functions
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
• Strong Excel skills and experience with an accounting system or ERP (such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Sage Intacct)
• Vendor management
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Preferred CPA or progress toward a CPA, and experience in transportation, aviation, or a multi-location business, a plus

Compensation

$65,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience
