The Accountant III classification is distinguished from the Accountant I and II classifications by the assignment of more complex accounting duties and responsibilities. In addition, this classification may act in a lead capacity by reviewing the work product of other staff, providing training, and mentoring other accounting unit staff.

This is a General Accounting position. The position is hybrid, primary work location is Ralph Carr Judicial Center 1300 Broadway, Denver, CO 80203.
Responsible for one’s own work product and work performed within the accounting unit. Provides direct supervision, guidance, and assistance to others. Duties include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance appraisals, and provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to perform repetitive motions, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field, such as finance, and four years of professional accounting experience.
