Job summary

Highmark Health in Pennsylvania seeks an experienced accountant to perform professional accounting, post-transaction reporting, and analyses with minimal supervision. You will ensure GAAP compliance and support month-end close while guiding junior staff.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, journal entries, and schedules, analyzing transactions, and maintaining accurate general ledger records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 3–5 years accounting experience, or associate's degree plus 5–7 years.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with general ledger system knowledge.
• Master's Degree preferred; CPA or CMA; health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Examines accounting documents for accuracy per GAAP; guides staff.
• Generates financial statements and schedules for monthly reports.
• Prepares journal entries and monthly entry control log.
• Analyzes transactions and performs fluctuation analyses.
• Ensures GL transactions are accurate with adequate support.
• Serves as primary contact for department managers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
