Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking an Accountant II to manage the monthly close, budget assessment, and cross-functional reporting. You will support productivity metrics, benchmarking, and data-driven recommendations for department managers and senior leadership.

The role involves developing statistical reports, contributing to the annual cost report, and ensuring regulatory survey readiness. A Bachelor’s degree and hospital accounting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Three years Accounting, Financial Analysis, or Budgeting experience required; preferably in a hospital accounting setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly closing process and assess budgets with minimal supervision.

The Accountant II is accountable for monthly closing process, assessing budgets and providing recommendations to department managers and Sr. Leadership with minimal supervision. Oversees and supports productivity reporting, benchmarking relationships and make recommendations as appropriate. Assists with the development, monitoring and reporting of statistical data in conjunction of other staff members. Participates in the preparation of annual cost report, meeting regulatory reporting requirements and survey completion.

Required Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of computer and accounting systems.
• Ability to utilize thorough knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to utilize financial analytical skills effectively.

• Knowledge of Healthcare accounting and/or budgeting preferred.

Required Experience:

Work Experience:

Three years Accounting, Financial Analysis, or Budgeting experience required; preferably in a hospital accounting setting.
