Job summary

Rocky Mountain Health Care in Colorado Springs seeks an Accountant II to support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting. You will review P-Card transactions, process invoices and payroll reimbursements, and ensure accuracy across ledgers and bank reconciliations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manages accounting for the company-wide P-Card system, including reviewing receipts, documentation, and approvals; coding transactions to the general ledger; exporting and importing transactions weekly; and monthly reporting.
  • Performs month-end closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
  • Manages and performs audits of petty cash accounts as backup when needed.
  • Assists with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry and payment processing.
  • Compiles and processes weekly deposits as backup on an as-needed basis.
  • Analyzes financial data and prepares adjustments as needed.
  • Generates routine reports for management as requested.
  • Maintains and reconciles ledger accounts.
  • Prepares bank account reconciliations for operating and investment accounts.
  • Reviews accounts payable and company credit card batches for discrepancies and corrects them.
  • Performs routine to moderately complex calculations.
  • Prepares quarterly tax and reporting.
  • Processes expense reimbursements through payroll system.
  • Uploads 403(b) transactions and reconciles deferrals and employer contributions.
  • Assists with 403(b) benefit audits and reports.
  • Prepares company benefit reconciliations and discusses variances with HR.
  • Reviews vendor profiles and prepares 1099 forms as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Accountants are responsible for assisting Senior Accountants and the Accounting Manager in the day-to-day operations of accounting, as well as monthly closing activities and reporting. This includes assisting with all aspects of the accounts payable process, including online credit card review in coordination with the Accounts Payable Accountants, processing employee expense reimbursements through the payroll system including mileage payments, and gathering data needed to produce monthly financial statements, along with other general accounting duties. An ideal Accountant II pays close attention to detail, has a general accounting foundation they wish to grow into more advanced skills, and brings a collaborative spirit to the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages accounting for the company-wide P-Card system, including reviewing receipts, documentation, and approvals; coding transactions to the general ledger; exporting and importing transactions weekly; and monthly reporting. Credit card payments are completed at least monthly, with weekly review for completeness and follow-up on missing or incomplete information
  • Performs month-end closing activities as assigned, including preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis of expense and revenue accounts
  • Manages and performs audits of petty cash accounts as backup when needed
  • Assists with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, credit card transaction processing, payment processing, and reconciliation of A/P vendor accounts as needed
  • Compiles and processes weekly deposits as backup on an as-needed basis
  • Analyzes financial data, including coding discrepancies in the general ledger, and prepares adjustments as needed
  • Generates routine reports for management as requested
  • Maintains and reconciles ledger accounts
  • Prepares bank account reconciliations, including operating and investment accounts
  • Reviews accounts payable and company credit card batches for discrepancies and makes corrections before submitting to the Accounting Manager and/or VP of Finance for posting
  • Performs routine to moderately complex calculations
  • Prepares quarterly sales tax and raffle reporting
  • Processes employee expense reimbursements through the payroll system including mileage payments
  • Uploads 403(b) transactions and reconciles employee deferrals and matching employer contributions
  • Assists with the 403(b) benefit audit and prepares reports as needed
  • Prepares company benefit reconciliations, balances them to the general ledger, and meets with Human Resources monthly to discuss variances
  • Reviews vendor profiles for accuracy against W-9 form submissions and prepares 1099 forms for submission as required under federal and state regulations
  • Assists with research, development, implementation, and documentation of accounting processes
  • Assists with preparation for year-end financial audits and other audits as needed
  • Assists with general ledger analysis, data entry, budgeting, and other ad hoc projects as requested
  • Actively participates in accounting team meetings and special projects to support the team's strategic goals
  • Other duties as assigned
Key Performance Indicators
  • Completes company P-Card transactions weekly in the accounting software system
  • Completes month-end duties between the 1st and 5th business day following month-end
  • Completes month-end reconciliations by the 15th day of the following month
QualificationsEducation & Experience
