Job summary

Arlington Independent School District is seeking a District Office Accountant to maintain the accuracy of AISD's general ledger and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and TEA regulations.

The Accountant will perform month-end close, prepare financial reports, assist external auditors, manage grant revenue postings, and ensure asset records and CIP accounting are accurate, under the Director of Accounting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with accounting or equivalent.
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems.
  • Proficient in governmental fund accounting and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Month-end general ledger reconciliation.
  • Assist with preparing financial reports, as needed.
  • MAC/SHARS Reporting
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • State/Local Grant management including revenue postings
  • Account code management
  • Maintain district fixed asset records
  • Annual fixed asset inventory
  • Capital Project Accounting
  • CIP Reporting
  • Internal Service Fund Accounting
  • Monitor transactions booked through the travel management system
  • Bank transmissions- positive pay, voided checks, etc.
  • Provide schedules and information to the external auditors, as needed
  • Provide accurate and timely answers to other District personnel who have questions or problems regarding general accounting issues.

ROLE AND PURPOSE:

To maintain the accuracy of all AISD general ledger accounts and the resulting financial statements in accordance with generally accepted principles and TEA regulations.Perform specific duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Minimum certification/education and experience: Bachelor's in business administration in accounting or equivalent
Experience:
  • Experience working in computerized accounting systems
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Must have a proficient understanding of governmental fund accounting
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer, with emphasis on Microsoft Office applications
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. JOB DUTIES:
