Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college.
  • Fundamental understanding of revenue accounting processes.
  • Proficient in Excel with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Import and export revenue data between accounting systems and ensure accurate mapping.
  • Receive, reconcile, and enter non-system revenues and receipts.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to book event-related revenues.
  • Generate and distribute operational reports to management.
  • Review local sales tax % by location to fix system setup issues.
  • Complete weekly concessionaire payback, journal entries, and pay sheets.
  • Reconcile deferred revenue accounts for product redemptions and sales.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend hours may be required to meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to Six Flags policies and values; maintain safety and attendance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Six Flags is seeking an Accountant I – Revenue Accounting. This entry-level position will be part of a team responsible for ensuring all functions of Revenue Accounting are completed timely, consistently, and accurately.

This hourly full-time position will report directly to the Supervisor-Revenue and will be expected to work weekend shifts and select holidays as needed. This associate will become an integral component of the Shared Accounting Services environment. Candidates may utilize these collaborative experiences with other operating partners to develop accounting skills and to build a platform as a stepping off point into other areas of SAS or to pursue a more senior role with the company.

Responsibilities
  • Import and export all revenue related data between accounting systems while ensuring all activity is accurately mapped and reporting correctly.
  • Receive, reconcile, and enter all non-system related revenues and receipts.
  • Work with the Accounts Receivable team in correctly booking all event related revenues.
  • Generate, review, and distribute operational reports to the management team.
  • Review Sales Tax percentage by location to isolate and fix possible system setup issues.
  • Complete the weekly concessionaire payback process, create the journal entry, and prepare the pay sheets for review.
  • Participate in the reconciliation of all deferred revenue accounts to ensure proper mapping of product redemptions and sales.
  • Responsibilities may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule to meet certain deadlines. This may include mandatory overtime and/or evening/weekend hours except where prohibited by law.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Six Flags policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and will demonstrate commitment to Six Flags core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited four-year college or university and/or a minimum of four years combined accounting and/or industry related experience.
  • Understanding of dependent upstream and downstream activities that impact and are impacted by Revenue Accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook (MicroSoft Suite) and pdf (Adobe Acrobat). Extra consideration is given to candidates with experience in account reconciliations, system automation, and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (macros).
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and able to work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and time management skills.
  • Confidence to ask questions and get clarification, display a positive attitude, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the capability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
