Job summary

Americare is seeking an Accountant I for our Brooklyn, NY location. This role focuses on payroll reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close activities within a healthcare-adjacent accounting environment.

You will record payroll taxes, post entries, and assist with audits and year-end closings while leveraging Excel and Workday skills to analyze general ledger activity and ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of accounting experience.
• Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Strong math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile payroll registers and related reports to general ledger activity.
• Record payroll taxes, employer paid liabilities, and other payroll related transactions.
• Solid knowledge of full cycle payroll, payroll journal entries, accruals, account reconciliation, and month end close activities.
• Quarterly 941 reconciliations to general ledger.
• Monthly general ledger account analysis and reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries including monthly and yearly closing entries.
• Assist with month/year end closings and audits.
• Assist with ongoing projects as needed.
