Job summary

The City of San José is seeking qualified candidates for Accountant I and Accountant II positions to support financial operations in the Workforce and Talent Development area. These roles will implement evolving fiscal controls, tracking, and reporting for new programs under WIOA.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting required; relevant accounting units specified.

Responsibilities

Assist with development, documentation, and implementation of new or modified fiscal procedures and internal controls.
Provide technical fiscal support for new systems.
Help establish accounting, expenditure tracking, documentation, and reporting for new or modified client services and program activities.
Collaborate with staff to identify financial documentation, tracking and reporting requirements for evolving services.
Develop or assist with new financial tracking tools, reports, analyses, and processes for evolving programs and grants.
Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails for new fiscal processes.
Coordinate with leadership to incorporate fiscal requirements into planning.
Perform other accounting and fiscal duties related to evolving requirements.
Support the Finance Manager with additional tasks as assigned.
