Job summary

Ideal candidate has 2+ years in accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with governmental accounting, including grant reporting and contract review. This limited-term role includes benefits and retirement participation.

Qualifications

• Two years of accounting experience, preferably in a governmental or public agency.
• Experience with account reconciliations and analysis; strong Excel skills; grants accounting experience preferred.
• Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and errors.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Experience reviewing contracts and billing documentation.
• Public sector experience and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting and financial support for special projects to ensure accuracy and grant compliance.
• Perform accounting activities for grants, including tracking expenditures and grant reports.
• Ensure financial documents are complete and properly retained.
• Review invoices, contracts, and agreements for accuracy and compliance; prepare encumbrance and reimbursement requests.
• Coordinate with analysts and internal stakeholders on grant administration and projects.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners.
• Meet deadlines for grant reporting, budgeting, and month-end close.
• Prepare and maintain control and subsidiary accounting records and reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations of ledgers and trust accounts.
• Assist with accounting systems improvements and audits.
