Job summary

Wedbush Securities in Pasadena, CA, seeks an Accountant I, Financial Reporting, to develop expertise in US GAAP financial statements, month-end close, and regulatory reporting within a leading financial services firm.

You will prepare quarterly and annual statements, support audits, collaborate across departments, and help improve accounting controls. This is an entry-level opportunity with hands-on training and exposure to broker-dealer operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience in public accounting, financial services, or corporate accounting preferred.
  • Exposure to SEC reporting or broker-dealer accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP financial statements for the Broker-Dealer.
  • Assist in consolidating financial statements for the Group.
  • Prepare month-end close deliverables, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain workpapers and documentation for financial reporting processes.
  • Support regulatory filings and internal management reporting.
  • Collaborate with across departments to obtain supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.

Our Accounting Department has an immediate opening for an AccountantI, Financial Reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunityto develop technical accounting and financial reporting expertisewithin a dynamic financial services environment. This role is idealfor an early-career accounting professional seeking to build a strongfoundation in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, andaccounting operations within the financial services industry.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual U.S. GAAPfinancial statements for the Broker-Dealer
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidatingfinancial statements for the Group
  • Prepare month-end close deliverables, including journal entries,account reconciliations, and reporting schedules
  • Prepare and maintain supporting workpapers and documentation forfinancial reporting processes
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial reportingpackages and management reports
  • Support quarterly and annual regulatory filings
  • Collaborate with various departments to obtain supportingdocumentation and resolve discrepancies
  • Analyze financial data and investigate account variances
  • Support internal and external audit requests by compilingschedules and documentation
  • Assist in documenting and updating accounting policies,procedures, and internal controls
  • Research accounting guidance and standards under the direction ofsenior team members
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience
  • Foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation
  • Internship or work experience in public accounting, financialservices, or corporate accounting preferred
  • Understanding of financial services and broker-dealer operationsis a plus
  • Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate toadvanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a highdegree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentand build effective relationships across departments
  • Exposure to SEC reporting, broker-dealer accounting, or financialservices industry practices is a plus

The reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role hasnot been adjusted for the applicable geographic location. A reasonableestimate of the current hiring range is $63,000 to $84,000. Colleaguesmay be eligible for additional, discretionary incentive compensationbased on the colleague's and the firm's performance. Decisionsregarding compensation are determined on a case-by-case basis and aredependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to skillsets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and otherbusiness and organizational needs.
