The University of Maryland, College Park’s Dining Services is seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to audit invoices, manage inventory system entries, and process payments through the university accounting system. This essential role supports internal customers and vendors, and includes batch submissions to the State of Maryland.
The position requires GAAP knowledge, strong analytical skills, and effective written and verbal communication.
Organizational Summary Statement: Serve as an Accounts Payable Accountant for the Dining Services Business Office's delegated A/P team. Audit invoices, receive items into the electronic inventory management system, process invoices for payment through the University accounting system, and submit document batches to the State of Maryland. Communicate and maintain relationships with internal customers and vendors. Audit cash reports and perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: This is an essential position and incumbent must report to work when the campus is closed due to weather or other emergency situations. May be required to work some weekends or evenings due to special events. Annual leave will not be granted for specific periods including the weeks preceding the start of each semester, Maryland Day, Family Weekend or special events. Typical office environment, including transferring files to document storage boxes and lifting. The University of Maryland is a non-smoking, weapon free, drug free campus.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
