Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and healthcare accounting preferred.
  • 1 year accounting/finance experience preferred.
  • Strong MS Excel and general office software skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the general ledger and prepares journal entries.
  • Performs account analysis and reconciliations for assigned areas.
  • Investigates financial activity from patient billing, pharmacy, and clinics.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with controls.
  • May travel to clinic sites for meetings.

The Accountant I, reports to the Assistant Controller.SPECIFIC DUTIES:Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.Responsible for timely and accurate completion of GL general journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with internal controls at all times.Investigates financial activity which originates in other departments, such as patient billing, pharmacy, clinic front/back-office area, and purchasing department.Performs moderately complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of dataImprove financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actionsPrepares drafts of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial, budget, forecast and statistical reports, incorporating financial controls and regulatory guidelinesMaintains detailed work-papers to support general ledgerMay involve occasional day travel to clinic sites to conduct meetingsDemonstrate “super-user” proficiencies in use of Dynamics accounting systemParticipates in preparation of UDS, OSHPD and annual financial and other auditsPerform other duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting/Finance required1 year experience in an Accounting or Finance setting preferredIntermediate to advanced MS Excel knowledge/skillsBasic to intermediate financial analytical skillsOne year of Federally Qualified Health Center or similar experience is preferredExperience w/ computerized accounting and medical or dental billing systems preferredKnowledge of clinic operations is preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)Knowledge of healthcare accounting and finance is preferredKnowledge of computer accounting softwareAbility to examine documents for accuracy and completenessAbility to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructionsAbility to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with attention to detailAbility to work independently, with minimal guidanceAbility to work effectively with coworkersAbility to communicate effectively and clearlyAbility to provide excellent customer service that is reflective of a culture that values trust and respectTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:May require sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn to work. Must have finger dexterity to operate calculator and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients, funders and staff. Must have vision that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in an office environment within a clinic setting. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times.
