The purpose of the Month End/Year End Accountant is to ensure that all Divisions within DHHS complete all closing steps for each budget code to ensure that all divisions are pre-certified by the 10th business day of the month. This includes reconciling all disbursing accounts; including but not limited to payroll, health benefits, and all suspense accounts. This position will reconcile daily cash and perform all month end closing activities. This position will record all allotments and analyze budget codes at month end and maintain communications with the Division Budget Offices if allotment revisions will be required in order to pre-certify. This position is responsible for the weekly cash projections that their respective Divisions are required to submit to the Office of the State Controller (OSC), which determines cash requirements and availability on the State level. This position will have a prominent role in the year end closing process for their respective division(s) as well as the Annual Comprehensive Financial Reporting (ACFR). This position ensures all financial reporting is prepared accurately and timely to ensure the accurate reporting of the State’s financial position. This position will make adjustments as needed to ensure accuracy in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS). This position also is responsible for analyzing, researching and responding to state and federal audit findings and reconciliation of accounts.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting
