Alaskan Brewing Company is seeking an Accountant to join our Juneau team. This advanced generalist role covers the full accounting cycle, from ledger updates to financial reporting, with interaction across managers, vendors, bankers, auditors, and regulators.

The role emphasizes accuracy, tax support, and timely reporting, requiring a bachelor’s in accounting and 3+ years of ledger experience. Strong Excel, MS Office, and accounting software skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred. Significant experience in accounting may substitute for the degree.
• 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience required.
• Strong computer skills and data organization interpretation are required. Excellent knowledge of Excel necessary, plus knowledge of working in an MS Office environment.
• Accounting software experience required.
• Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with brewery personnel and all stakeholders.
• Possess strong analytical and organizational skills. Attention to detail is critical, with ability to interpret and provide insight with large amounts of data.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and assist with cash forecasting.
• Reconcile and review subsidiary ledgers to general ledger.
• Record and reconcile debt related schedules.
• Accurately prepare and timely file required regulatory reports including city sales tax, federal excise tax and operations tax.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare scheduled and ad hoc accounting reports as required.
• Assist with preparation of Federal income tax support schedules.
• Assist accounting staff with proper expenditure coding and document processing.
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Assist with preparation and review of monthly budget reports.
