Job summary

O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative construction company in Torrington, Connecticut, is seeking an Accountant to join our team. The role supports daily accounting operations, financial reporting, tax and regulatory filings, and month-end and year-end close processes.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of general accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Excel; experience with QuickBooks or JDE is a plus. This full-time position offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 3-5 years of general accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software; QuickBooks or JDE a plus.
• High accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Reconcile bank, intercompany, inventory, and other general ledger accounts; research and resolve discrepancies.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare year-end workpapers for audits and tax returns.
• Maintain fixed asset records and related schedules.
• Prepare and file state and federal fuel tax returns, sales tax returns, and highway use tax reports.
• Assist with income and expense reports and other regulatory filings.
• Maintain complete financial records in accounting systems and ensure GAAP compliance.
