About the Role

Liberty Dental Plan is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support our Accounts Receivable operations. This is more than a cash-posting role. You’ll combine hands‑on transaction processing with reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, financial reporting, and problem-solving to help maintain accurate financial records and support a fast-paced accounting environment.

You’ll partner closely with Account Management, Accounts Payable, Eligibility, and other stakeholders to investigate discrepancies, resolve outstanding items, and keep accounts moving forward. Success in this role requires a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume work against tight deadlines.

What You’ll Do
  • Review daily deposit activity and accurately apply incoming payments using supporting documentation and payment details.
  • Perform cash applications and account reconciliations, including member‑level reconciliations, to identify and resolve differences.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Prepare journal entries, account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze discrepancies and variances, research root causes, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Monitor assigned accounts and proactively follow up on outstanding information and unresolved items.
  • Support an accelerated month‑end close process while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.
  • Assist with determining appropriate Accounts Receivable reserves based on non‑payment activity.
  • Review financial transactions and records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
  • Prepare financial and operational reports and meet established processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and process‑improvement initiatives.
  • Provide responsive, professional support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance‑related position.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including balance sheets, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience with cash application and Accounts Receivable activities.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP functionality and PivotTables; experience working with Microsoft Access tables is also relevant.
  • Previous experience with Health Solutions Plus (HSP) or Sage preferred.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, investigate discrepancies, and exercise sound judgment when resolving problems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling high‑volume work and multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent professional communication and customer‑service skills.
  • A collaborative approach and confidence working across departments to obtain information and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced professional accounting environment.
Work Environment & Schedule

This is a full‑time position. The first 90 days are expected to be fully in office, followed by a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Work is generally performed in an office environment using standard office equipment. The position involves extended periods of sitting, typing, and close‑range computer work.
