Job description

About the Opportunity

We are a specialized manufacturing and service organization operating within a niche industrial sector with a growing North American presence. With roots in the region and direct ties to an international parent organization, we have steadily expanded our footprint across the United States and Canada, driven by strong market demand and a reputation for engineering excellence. Our Medina, OH location serves as the operational and financial hub for North American activities, giving this hire significant visibility and impact from day one.

This is a newly created position driven by growth - not a backfill. As we expand our scope of financial responsibilities at the divisional level, we need a hands‑on accounting professional who can own the day‑to‑day financial operations and grow with us.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant who can step in quickly, navigate a multi‑entity accounting environment with minimal hand‑holding, and take ownership of the full accounting cycle. This individual will be responsible for the complete range of daily transactional activity through monthly and year‑end close, and will partner closely with leadership as the financial scope of this position expands over time.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Execute all general accounting functions for the North American division from daily transaction entry through full-cycle close
  • Manage accounts payable functions including vendor onboarding, maintenance of vendor records, and oversight of the full payment process
  • Oversee accounts receivable including customer invoice generation, collections support, and accurate cash receipt recording
  • Support purchasing, inventory management, and logistics functions including participation in the annual cycle count process
  • Process daily cash flow activities including deposits, ACH approvals, and Positive Pay submissions
  • Perform bank account monitoring and reconciliation for both U.S. and Canadian accounts
  • Review and process weekly employee expense reports, ensuring proper account and cost center coding, appropriate approvals, and timely reimbursement; perform monthly credit card reconciliation
  • Manage sales and use tax compliance by reconciling ERP and tax software outputs and filing applicable state and local returns; reconcile and file quarterly Canadian GST returns
  • Prepare and submit monthly payroll reports to Canada covering U.S. and UK divisions; provide input for Canadian corporate tax filings
  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries; perform and review GL account reconciliations monthly as part of the close cycle
  • Analyze costs, revenues, and financial obligations to support projections and management reporting
  • Prepare and review internal financial statements
  • Lead month-end and year-end close from start to finish with minimal oversight
  • Investigate and resolve GL discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Present financial data and analysis to leadership in a clear and actionable format
  • Support internal and external audits, including coordinating with the external accounting firm for annual review and corporate tax return preparation
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and internal controls
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives that increase accuracy and operational efficiency
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Demonstrated hands‑on accounting experience with the ability to independently execute full‑cycle accounting tasks from day one
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles across AP, AR, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting
  • ERP experience required; NetSuite strongly preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong plus – particularly with inventory, cost accounting, or multi‑entity structures
  • Exposure to Canadian tax compliance (GST, T2 support) and cross‑border reporting is a meaningful differentiator
  • Highly self‑sufficient with a track record of stable, long‑term employment – job stability is important to this team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable managing competing priorities in a lean environment
  • Effective communicator able to present financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Newly created position – this is a growth hire, not a replacement, with real upside as the role expands
  • Meaningful scope: you'll own the full financial cycle for an entire North American division
  • Tight‑knit, collaborative team in a company that operates with the agility of a small business and the backing of a global organization
  • Flexibility: while the role starts on‑site for ramp‑up, there is room for schedule flexibility over time
  • Solid total compensation package including healthcare, 401(k) match, and PTO that grows with tenure
