Job summary

Talentify is recruiting an accounting technical expert for the Walla Walla District revolving fund and civil works activities under a Direct Hire Authority (DHA). The role provides expert financial guidance, analyzes balances and trends, and supports budget and program data preparation in accordance with regulations.

You will interpret regulations, advise on accounting practices, and help prevent waste and ensure internal controls across cost accounts and general ledgers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Public sector accounting experience is a plus.
• CPA or CA certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides program and district managers with accurate and timely financial information and advice.
• Evaluates account balances, trends, and conditions to guide operating officials.
• Provides accounting data and support to budget and program managers for budgetary and program data.
• Interprets accounting regulations and gives financial advice based on law and accounting practices.
• Solves difficult financial management problems in the organization's programs.
• Projects fund requirements and recommends additional funding to managers and higher authority.
• Initiates and recommends procedures to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of resources.
• Ensures internal control reviews on cost accounts and general ledgers.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as accounting technical expert for the Walla Walla District Revolving Fund or Civil Works activity. Advises on specialized Revolving Fund activities such as facility account management, distribution of costs to civil funded projects, labor and payroll accounts.

Duties

• Provides program and district managers with accurate and timely financial information and advice.
• Evaluates account balances, trends, and conditions thereof to provide guidance to operating officials.
• Provides accounting data and support to budget and program managers for preparation of budgetary and program data.
• Interprets accounting regulations and gives financial advice and recommendations based on law, regulations, and professional knowledge of accounting practices.
• Solves difficult financial management problems in the organization's programs.
• Projects fund requirements and makes recommendations to managers and higher authority for additional requirements.
• Initiates and recommends procedures and policies to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of resources.
• Ensures adequate internal control reviews on cost accounts and general ledgers.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain appropriate Financial Management Certification level within 2 years of placement in position.
