Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA) is seeking an Accountant to join the corporate accounting team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The role supports the corporate accounting and finance department, maintains general ledger accounts, and helps develop financial statements and reports within a collaborative culture.

The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree (Associate required, Bachelor's preferred), strong MS Excel skills, and knowledge of US GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly close process and ensure journal entries and reconciliations are GAAP-compliant.
• Support external audits with documentation and inquiries.
• Reconcile cash accounts and maintain accuracy of financial records.
• Streamline accounting processes and document procedures.
• Analyze financial data and communicate findings with recommendations.
• Answer daily questions on transactions and payments from stores and customers.
• Respond to questions regarding internal accounting and reporting per company policies.
• Prepare and analyze accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Participate in ad hoc projects as directed by management.

Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA) is a regional farm supply co-op with diverse operations including feed production, agronomy services, and retail stores throughout the intermountain west. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of ACCOUNTANT at the corporate office in Salt Lake City, Utah.

SUMMARY:

The Accountant position will support the company's corporate accounting and finance department ensuring the accuracy of various financial records. This position is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and will assist in developing financial statements and reports. The person in this position will work in a collaborative team environment within a supportive corporate culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Assists in completing the monthly close process and ensuring journal entries and reconciliations are accurate in accordance with US GAAP and have appropriate supporting documentation.
• Supports external audits by providing audit requests, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
• Reconcile cash accounts.
• Contributes to an efficient accounting department by streamlining accounting processes and documenting procedures.
• Analyzes financial data and effectively communicates findings and makes recommendations.
• Respond in a timely manner to the daily customer and store management questions on transaction/payment issues.
• Responds to questions from business locations regarding accurate internal accounting and reporting in accordance with company procedures and policies.
• Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records and reports to assess accuracy, with completeness, and compliance reporting standards.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High level of personal integrity and honesty.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of the application of US GAAP.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software applications.
• Ability to communicate both written and verbally with customers and store management.
• Excellent problem solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Good organizational abilities and analytical skills Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, and develop solutions through research and critical thinking.
• At least an Associate degree in accounting; Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience using SAP.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience; public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including the ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analyses.
