Job summary

GovCore Inc. is seeking a CPA-licensed financial reporting lead responsible for US GAAP financial statements and ASC 606 application for software and subscription contracts. You will prepare statements, assemble schedules, and support external audits.

The role requires strong audit preparation experience and the ability to explain accounting positions to non-accountants. Remote work is offered with international cross-border exposure.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active CPA licence from a state board of accountancy, in good standing.
• Continued education requirements must be met as set by the board.
• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP without supervision.
• Apply ASC 606 to contracts with more than one performance obligation.
• Strong experience with audit preparation.
• Explain accounting positions clearly to non-accountants.

About GovCore

GovCore builds regulatory operations software for licensing boards and government agencies. The work is public administration through software, and we approach it on those terms.

The role

This role owns the financial reporting for GovCore. You report to the founder. You prepare the statements and the schedules, and you assemble the support that an external auditor asks for.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements under US GAAP.
• Apply ASC 606 to the company's software and service contracts.
• Record revenue on multi-year licence and subscription agreements.
• Maintain the schedules and reconciliations that support each account balance.
• Assemble the audit file, and answer the external auditor's requests.
• Close the books each month, quarter and year.
• Report on cross-border transactions between the United States and Canada.
• Keep the records ready for review at any time.

Requirements

• You hold an active CPA licence from a state board of accountancy, in good standing.
• You meet the continuing education requirements that the board sets.
• You prepare financial statements under US GAAP without supervision.
• You apply ASC 606 to contracts that carry more than one performance obligation.
• You have strong experience with audit preparation.
• You explain an accounting position to a reader who is not an accountant.

The CPA licence is a requirement. A Master of Finance or an MBA is not an equivalent. The licence carries a regulator, a code of conduct and a discipline process. A degree does not.

An asset

• Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards.
• Experience with cross-border reporting between the United States and Canada.
• Experience in a company that sells software to government.
• Experience with revenue recognition in a subscription business.
