Job summary

Ledgent-Finance- is hiring a Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization in the New Britain area. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end close, and supporting financial reporting.

You will record transactions, reconcile accounts, assist with budget preparation, and handle daily AP and cash receipts. The position requires a BS in Accounting/Finance and 2–3 years of experience; nonprofit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Record financial transactions and reconcile bank accounts timely and accurately.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter, and year-end closing processes including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing church budgets and financial statements.
  • Process and record daily accounts payable and cash receipts.
  • Support overall financial reporting and the Finance Department.
  • Keep current with accounting standards and rulings; identify process improvements.
  • Suggest elimination of unnecessary functions to improve efficiencies.

Job description

Salary: USD28 - USD32 per hour

Our client, a Nonprofit organization in the New Britain area, is seeking a Staff Accountant with QuickBooks Online experience (Required).This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end close processes, and supporting overall financial reporting.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate recording of entity financial transactions and reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Assist with month-end, quarter and year end closing process to include, but not limited to, preparing necessary general journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assists with the preparation of church budgets
  • Process and record daily Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Provide general support to the Finance Department
  • Stays current with methods, accounting standards and rulings, and skills
  • Recommends the elimination of unnecessary or redundant functions/processes and ways in which improvements can be made

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years’ relevant work experience required
  • Experience in a non-profit work environment preferred
