Job description

Campus Federal Credit Union is seeking an Accountant to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to assist Campus Federal in our Mission, to enhance the lives of our members and the communities we serve. This is accomplished by providing excellent service to members and to team members.

This position will perform accounting functions according to established accounting principles. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations, process fixed assets and maintain inventory records, process and account for indirect loan portfolio serviced by third party, and assist with month-end closing, internal and external reporting.

Responsibilities Include:

Accounting Activities

  • Assist in the maintenance of the accounting system by providing guidance, training and quality assurance for all users of the system. Assures technical development of all users of the system through the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
  • Maintain fixed assets system and annual inventory of items. Develop and maintain reporting for management.
  • Process and account for indirect loan portfolio serviced by third party.
  • Prepare financial statements and schedules to satisfy regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Process Accounts Receivable related to corporate contracts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to serve as the basis for financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Perform month-end close processes to include reconciliations, accruals, and deferred fees.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for internal control of accounts.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes to optimize efficiencies.
  • Provide support related to accounting functions to all internal team members.
  • Cross train and support other team members.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (accounting or finance) and 2 years’ experience or 6 years’ experience in the field or in a related area preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
