Job summary

Wegner CPAs is partnering with a Middleton construction client to hire an Accountant who can own key financial processes and contribute to accurate, timely reporting.

This hands-on role covers accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, job costing, payroll tax reporting, and financial statements. You’ll join a small, collaborative team on-site with a weekday schedule and real opportunities to impact the business. Excellent growth potential and bonus opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
• Strong knowledge of general ledger, A/P and A/R
• Experience with financial reporting and payroll tax reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent attention to detail, organization and time management
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable & Receivable including vendor invoices, billing, payments and balances
• Maintain General Ledger and reconciliations; ensure accurate recording of transactions
• Assist with financial reporting and month-end close
• Track job costs and support cost allocation and financial monitoring
• Prepare payroll tax reports and ensure timely filings
• Maintain organized documentation and improve accounting processes

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on accounting role where you'll help keep the company's financial operations running smoothly. You'll work across several key areas, including:

• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage vendor invoices, customer billing, payment tracking, and outstanding balances.
• General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Financial Reporting: Assist with preparing financial statements, month-end activities, and other reporting needs.
• Job Cost Accounting: Track project-related expenses and support accurate cost allocation and financial monitoring.
• Payroll Tax Reporting: Prepare payroll tax reports and support timely filings and compliance.
• Accounting Administration: Maintain organized documentation, identify discrepancies, and help improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and can confidently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities.

You bring:

• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and payroll tax reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team.

Bonus points if you have construction accounting or job costing experience! Familiarity with Foundation Software or similar construction accounting systems would be especially valuable.
