Job description

Netflix seeks a skilled Accountant in Los Gatos, CA to manage financial records, ensure compliance, and support strategic decisions for our global entertainment leader. Join a dynamic team driving fiscal excellence in streaming innovation.

Entertainment Media Rentals

At Netflix, the Accountant role is pivotal in maintaining the financial integrity that powers our world-class entertainment platform. As a key contributor to the Finance team, you will handle critical accounting functions that directly impact our ability to produce award-winning content, expand globally, and deliver value to subscribers worldwide. Your precision and insights will help shape the financial strategies behind blockbuster series and films, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around executing core accounting tasks with accuracy and efficiency. You will prepare and analyze financial statements, reconcile accounts, and manage general ledger entries on a daily basis, ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly. Weekly, you will review budgets, forecast expenses, and collaborate with production and content teams to track project costs, delivering reports that inform decision-making. Monthly, you will close books, compute variances against budgets, and prepare reconciliations for audits, while monitoring key metrics like cost per title and revenue per subscriber. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including tax specialists, FP&A teams, and international finance groups, to support quarterly closings and annual audits. Additionally, you may lead small projects, such as implementing new accounting software or streamlining royalty payment processes, contributing to process improvements that enhance departmental productivity.

To succeed in this role, you need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in media, tech, or entertainment industries. CPA certification is highly preferred, with strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS standards essential. Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and experience with financial modeling tools are required. Familiarity with content royalty accounting, subscription revenue recognition, and international tax compliance will set you apart, ensuring you can navigate Netflix's complex financial landscape effectively.

Beyond technical expertise, you must demonstrate sharp analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and identify discrepancies swiftly. Excellent communication abilities are crucial for presenting financial insights to non-finance leaders and collaborating seamlessly across teams. Attention to detail, adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry, and a proactive problem-solving mindset will enable you to thrive amid tight deadlines and high-stakes projects. Your ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy underscores the competencies that define success here.

Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service, with over 260 million paid memberships in 190 countries, fueled by a mission to entertain the world. Our culture emphasizes freedom and responsibility, fostering creativity, candor, and context over control. The Finance team, based in Los Gatos, operates in a collaborative, high-energy environment with flat hierarchies, encouraging diverse perspectives and bold ideas to drive business growth.

We offer competitive compensation, though salary details are not specified at this time, commensurate with experience.

  • Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and generous PTO with flexible work options.
  • Employees enjoy unique perks like Netflix subscriptions, wellness stipends, parental leave, stock options, and annual performance bonuses.

Advancement opportunities abound through internal mobility, leadership training, and mentorship programs tailored to your growth. Develop expertise in global finance while advancing to senior roles.
