Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage, Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant for a HYBRID role. You will manage the monthly close for ~20 self-storage properties, maintain internal controls, treasury, and internal reporting.

The position combines in‑office collaboration in Ladera Ranch, CA with work-from-home days. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, has GAAP experience, and excels in Excel and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or comparable work experience.
• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and oral & written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and work with diverse personalities.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget vs. actual results and report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile monthly reporting package for each property.
• Perform other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Salary: starting at $73,000/yr depending on experience + annual discretionary bonus

Location: Hybrid once fully trained - Monday & Friday work from home; Tuesday - Thursday in-office at our beautiful corporate office in Ladera Ranch, CA

Accountant Job Summary - HYBRID

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, our Accountants are responsible for the monthly property financial statement close process for approximately 20 self-storage properties, maintaining internal controls, treasury, and internal reporting. This is a hybrid position once fully trained: Tues thru Thurs in office; Mon & Fri work from home.
