Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage in California is seeking an Accountant for a hybrid role. The accountant will manage monthly close processes for ~20 properties, maintain internal controls, treasury, and internal reporting, with a hybrid schedule (office Tue-Thu, work-from-home Mon & Fri).

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, has GAAP experience, and strong Excel and communication skills. Health benefits are included.

• Experience with GAAP financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and oral & written communication skills.

• Demonstrates ability to work well with diverse personalities.
• Takes initiative and follows through on changes.
• Works well independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Produce journal entries, banking and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements.
• Analyze budget vs. actual results and report variances.
• Support integration of new acquisitions as needed.
• Compile a monthly reporting package for each property.
• Handle other accounting responsibilities and ad hoc projects.

Salary: starting at $73,000/yr depending on experience + annual discretionary bonus

Location: Hybrid once fully trained - Monday & Friday work from home; Tuesday - Thursday in-office at our beautiful corporate office in Ladera Ranch, CA

Accountant Job Summary - HYBRID

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, our Accountants are responsible for the monthly property financial statement close process for approximately 20 self-storage properties, maintaining internal controls, treasury, and internal reporting. This is a hybrid position once fully trained: Tues thru Thurs in office; Mon & Fri work from home.
