Responsibilities

  • Maintain and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial records for various funds including General Fund, internal service funds, trust and agency funds, and capital project funds.
  • Prepare account reconciliations such as property tax, sales tax, receivables, bank reconciliations, and payroll accounts.
  • Record, monitor, and report capital bond project activities.
  • Prepare reports for regulatory agencies as requested.
  • Produce financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist in maintaining internal accounting controls and compliance with GASB statements.
  • Support the budgeting process and provide management with reports as needed.
  • Research accounting issues and provide workable recommendations to management.

Responsible for performing professional accounting tasks such as maintaining and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and accounting records for funds primarily including General Fund, internal service funds, trust and agency funds, and general capital project fund types.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
  • Perform complex accounting tasks such as maintaining and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and accounting records for funds primarily including General Fund, internal service funds, trust and agency funds, and general capital project fund types.
  • Prepare and maintain various account reconciliations including property tax, sales tax, miscellaneous receivables, bank/outstanding checks reconciliations, and payroll accounts.
  • Prepare, record, and monitor capital bond project reporting.
  • Prepare regular and special reports for regulatory agencies upon request.
  • Prepare financial statements and other supporting schedules and analyses in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assist in maintaining internal accounting control systems for the organization.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance and implementing new Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements.
  • Assist in the budget process as needed.
  • Provide management reports as requested/necessary.
  • Research, analyze, and make recommendations to management regarding various accounting related issues such as conformance with City ordinances and policies.
  • Assure financial accuracy and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Prepare statements, notes, and statistical information for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Perform special projects as assigned, which require a high level of understanding of accounting theory and concepts.
  • Work with outside and internal Auditors as necessary.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, or related field; and,
  • Two (2) years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related field,

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work after normal business hours, holidays, and weekends, as needed. Must be able to work overtime, as needed. Must attend regularly scheduled and special meetings.
