Job summary

Collins Community Credit Union is seeking an Accountant who balances numbers with strategic insight to guide financial decisions and support initiatives for our members and communities.

You will work with the Controller to ensure accurate ledgers, analyze financial data, and assist with regulatory reporting while partnering with teams across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• GAAP knowledge.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interpret and analyze financial reports.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Credit union or financial institution accounting experience a plus.
• Bonding in accordance with State of Iowa and Credit Union requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and analyze financial information used to support key business decisions.
• Assist with monthly financial statements and regulatory reporting.
• Manage accounts payable functions for all entities.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support audits, examinations, and vendor relationships.
• Partner with departments throughout the organization to provide financial insight and guidance.
• Contribute to department projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
• Serve as a trusted member of the Finance team by providing cross-functional support as needed.

What You'll Do

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

• Public accounting experience preferred
• Credit union or financial institution accounting experience a plus
• Ability to be bonded in accordance with State of Iowa and Credit Union requirements
