GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To assist Accountants and participate in the preparation of accounting records and reports.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is under the supervision of an employee of higher grade who assigns and reviews work.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision is exercised over clerical personnel assigned to assist.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual accounting and budget reports.
- Participate in preparation of journal entries.
- Participate in the preparation of accounts payable.
- Assist in preparing bank reconciliations.
- Prepare general vouchers to effect adjustments, transfers, or corrections and record such transactions in proper books of accounts.
- May verify bank statements.
- May assist in preliminary preparation of record audits.
- Prepare a variety of statistical records, monthly and other reports.
- May instruct and assist clerical personnel of lower classification in the preparation of accounting records and reports.
- May prepare and maintain payroll records.
- Perform related work as assigned.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
- Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and procedures as applied to commercial, cost, budgetary and encumbrance accounting.
- Considerable knowledge of office methods and procedures.
- Ability to make or verify a variety of arithmetic computations quickly and accurately.
- Ability to prepare statistical records and reports.
- Ability to type.
- Ability to operate adding machine, calculator, and computer terminal.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees.
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent, including or supplemented
by courses in bookkeeping, and general business courses.
o ORIGINAL diploma or official transcripts REQUIRED at time of application - Three (3) years experience in governmental bookkeeping and related clerical and accounting work.
PAY RATE
$68,831/year - $72,575/year (After 5 years)
Benefits include health, dental and life insurance, paid vacation and sick time.
