Job summary

Texas Trust Credit Union is seeking a skilled Collections Associate to manage in-house delinquent accounts, pursue payment arrangements, and support mortgage collection activities. You will counsel members by phone and ensure adherence to credit union policies during the collection process.

Qualifications include a high school degree, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while complying with relevant laws. Prior collection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handle in-house delinquent accounts per collection procedures and policy.
  • Skip and trace debtors to secure payment commitments.
  • Collect and resolve delinquent credit card accounts.
  • Assist with mortgage collections, forbearances and modifications.
  • Arrange and monitor check-by-phone payments and contact members to collect.
  • Counsel members by phone regarding collection issues and questions.
  • Contact assigned accounts to obtain payment commitments.
  • Support repossession and insurance-related processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.

Description
Role Responsibilities
  • Responsible for in-house assigned delinquent accounts according to collection procedures and credit union policies.
  • Skip and track down debtors to meet contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for collection and resolution of delinquent credit cards.
  • Responsible for mortgage collections while assisting with forbearances and modifications
  • Arrange and monitor check by phone payments.
  • Counsel and assist members on the telephone with collection items, questions and problems.
  • Contact each assigned account by telephone or by correspondence to obtain a commitment for payment.
  • Responsible for collecting any remaining deficiency and foreclosure balances.
  • Assist in monitoring Total Loss Insurance claims filed by the member with their insurance companies. If acceptable, follow up with refunds of back end products with dealerships, including gap claims.
  • Assist the Repossession/Bankruptcy Specialist arranging the repossession of collateral.
  • Practices and brings to life with the team our “Yes And… culture.
  • Comply with established regulations and law requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Experience
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a financial institution and one (1) year experience in consumer collection preferable.
Skills, Education and/or Certifications Required
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a working knowledge of current Windows OS and MS Office software.
  • Must be capable of performing in a fast paced office environment.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing, by telephone and in person, and understand individual member's financial problems.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks to accomplish objectives within desired time frames.
  • Must be cognizant of laws and policies governing the conduct of this position.
