Overview
Carotek, a SunSource company, provides process equipment solutions for the industrial, commercial and municipal markets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. Carotek represents over 85 manufacturers as their process equipment distributor, representative, and repair center for pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, IIoT, steam, hydronics and municipal products.
Role Summary
Account Manager at Carotek Inc. – an industrial process equipment focused, customer‑facing outside sales role primarily responsible for growing sales with existing customers, generating new business, and improving relationships with represented manufacturers. The role focuses on selling mechanical products such as pumps, steam products, filtration, heat exchangers, and related equipment in the Nashville, TN area.
Responsibilities
- Call on end‑users such as engineers, technicians and supervisory personnel to provide process solutions and application advice on our products
- Establish effective relationships with customers to gain their trust and confidence in applying our products
- Review specifications, application requirements and other documents and work closely with Inside Sales on preparing quotations
- Provide technical support for customers in the proper use, operation and maintenance of our equipment
- Proactive planning and execution of sales calls and customer visits
- Maintain an accurate forecast of your business potentials with your customers and the manufacturers we represent
- Prepare a weekly sales call plan with a goal of maximizing exposure to customers (minimum five in‑person sales calls per day)
- Engage in formal and self‑guided product training
- Product selection – determining product compatibility
- Generate quotes and document the sales process
- Plan territory and overall business strategy
- Participate in local job‑related professional organizations
- Grow territory by increasing penetration of existing accounts and developing new accounts
- Advise Inside Sales personnel on margins for particular accounts or projects
- Actively maintain the CRM database
- Maintain strong principal relationships
- Attend manufacturer training sessions for represented products
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Transport self to various facility sites as required; occasional non‑local travel, including overnight stays and weekends, may be expected
- Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
Preferred Experience, Education, and Skills
- Associate’s degree in an engineering or technical field, or a business concentration; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Four years of outside sales experience, preferably selling industrial process equipment; Inside Sales and/or Field Service experience is a plus
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and product specifications
- Ability to identify critical decision makers within customer organizations
- Ability to recognize customer needs beyond the stated or obvious
- Ability to work in a professional manner with individuals from varying backgrounds, experience and educational levels

Job Details
This is a full‑time position with typical hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility. Travel is primarily local during the business day, with a goal of five in‑person meetings a day with a customer. Occasional non‑local travel, overnight stays and weekend assignments may be required.
