Base pay range

Avalon Risk Management (“Avalon”) is a specialty insurance broker with offices throughout the U.S. and Canada. We focus on the unique and exciting world of risk management and insurance products for the international trade and logistics industry. Avalon is a privately held company owned by our founding management team. We are looking for a client focused Account Manager to join our National Accounts Department. This full-time position will work from our headquarters in Schaumburg, IL and after an introductory training period will be eligible for a hybrid in-office and work from home environment.

Our National Accounts (NATL) team provides sales and service to our largest and most geographically diverse clients. Avalon is looking for candidates with at least 5 years of office-based professional customer service experience, preferably in a customs broker or insurance-based environment. Our support staff must have the capacity and initiative to problem solve and seek out appropriate solutions for our clients and staff.

This position will require a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail. Successful candidates must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines to avoid disruption of insurance coverage, consistently follow instructions and established procedures, and have intermediate skills in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Great candidates will be flexible and fast learners – ready to adapt to industry and company changes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to support our clients.

Some of the responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Manage sales and service issues for National Accounts clients such as policy distribution, coverage questions, account set up, etc. Determine “spot” quotes and bond rates.
• Assist sales team with needs related to prospecting, binding, and renewing policies.
• Focus on client needs following standard operation procedures:
• Manage client files and new policies, endorsements, policy renewals and account changes.
• Prepare, process, and/or track reports and collect monthly production for clients and office.
• Submit quotes and proposals to clients and convey approvals within defined time frames.
• Monitor and facilitate claims reviews.
• Act as liaison between client and sales team - training clients on products and related technology; distributing policies, endorsements, and supplies; and may include traveling for in-person client meetings. Identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Other client and team support actions as assigned

A P&C insurance license will be required for this position within the first 120 days of employment. Avalon will help you obtain this license upon hire by providing access to training and classes, and we bear the associated expenses.
